FarmFolk City Folk is home to the BC Seeds program and is a partner in the Bauta Family Initiative on Canadian Seed Security — a national program to conserve and advance seed biodiversity, keep seed in the public domain and promote ecological seed production. The goal of our seed work is to increase the quality, quantity and diversity of ecologically grown seed in BC. We are working to achieve this through a mentorship program, seed production trainings and workshops, field days, farmer-led research and public tasting events.

While much of our past work has focused on the Fraser Valley and Islands, this year we have new program participants in the Okanagan, including two seed mentee and mentor pairs and three farms participating in the BC Seed Trials research project. You can find out more about our programs at: bcseeds.org and bcseedtrials.ca and look for us on social media @bcseeds

The Okanagan participants are:
Mentor: Jon Alcock, Sunshine Farm, Kelowna
Mentee: Brenda Paterson, Wise Earth Farm, Kelowna

BC Seed Trial farms:
